Twilight review

Some genres just combine really well. Fantasy and romance is definitely one of those. But has this movie done enough to combine the two genres successfully?

Story

Lead character Bella moves to a small town called Forks when she is just 17 years old. She moves with her dad who doesn’t pay much attention to here but still does a reasonable job of raising her properly. Bella gets a lot of attention at here new local high school and quickly makes some good friends. Then she sees Cullen and she immediately feels intrigued by his mysterious presents, and good looks. When she sits next to him in Biology class, he appears disgusted by her presents. Bella tries everything to understand the secret that Cullen and his group holds after he is absent during a sunny period and later acts really nice around Bella. Twilight is a fantasy that combines romance with a great story. Unfortunately it is pretty predictable after the initial shock of the discovery. But then again which Hollywood movie isn’t these days?
Presentation

The DVD and Blu ray versions both look great. It’s a real treat to see the movie in 1080P resolution. The special effects are fantastic and the sound is spot on. There’s a little noise here and these, especially in the darker scenes, but generally everything is spot on. The extras are on both versions are huge, way more than what we’ve come to expect. Extras include an interview with the cast, a documentary about the transition from the book, a music video from Muse and the list goes on and on. Lots of extras and a great 117 minutes story so the presentation couldn’t be much better. No issues here.

Effort

Everyone involved in this movie really gave it a lot of effort to succeed. The acting performance is great. Kirsten stewart and Robert Pattinson made the lead characters very believable. It helps that both actors have starred in relatively few movies. The director did a good job of transitioning the story from the book. He left some things out but included memorable moments that I don’t want to talk about because of spoiler issues. Thanks to everyone’s efforts this movie has won no less than 8 awards.
Thanks to everyone’s efforts an average book is turned into a great movie. The story is great but slightly predictable and the presentation is fantastic. Overall Twilight leaves you with a fantastic experience.
