A lot can be said about someone based on the TV they use. Is it a LED? Is it a famous brand? However the most important question is probably about the diagonal size of the screen. Or you can say: how big is your TV? Today I’ll compare big and small TVs.
Small television
Let’s start with small televisions. Up to 32 inch. Every brand has one and buying in this size gives the advantage of price. It allows for cheaper sets or more feature rich models, without needing to sell an organ. Last year LED-lit televisions were out of the price range for a lot of people, except for the 32 inch. Now the same applies for 3D. It’s very expensive, but the smaller size should be affordable for most.
Another advantage comes into play when the source material is bad. DVDs, regular television and old tapes don’t have many pixels, so you want the pixels to be very close together. Smaller sets allow for more pixel density and therefore better quality especially from low quality sources.
Big televisions
From 37 inch up to 55+ inches is what many consider a big screen TV. Prices are coming down all the time. With exception of the very big TVs, which aren’t sold very often.
The most obvious advantage is the big display. Movies truly come alive when they come into your living room at seemingly life size. Games as well. It becomes very immersive quickly. Imagine playing games on the Samsung C8700 55″, it’s pretty great I imagine.
Other than that there aren’t a lot of advantages really. They cost more, they take up more space and finally it produces awful low levels of crispiness on anything other than HD. But heck it’s bigger.
Versus
Now I compare them and weigh in the pros and cons. And for me the winner is: big screen displays. And here’s why. You don’t buy big screen TVs with your mind, they cost more, take more room, and use more electricity. But you do buy them with your heart. With the sense that movies, games and other content will only improve, and that you want to experience them in the best possible way. You can’t do that on a small TVs, which your friends make fun of. And there you have it. Big TVs are the way forward.
