One year anniversary

Long time no see on the blog, my last update was early this year. But I've been really busy with updating the site and all content actively for you, and that's what counts. My life at the moment is pretty dull I've to admit. It's just hard work keeping both sites [health, main] updated but I do it with love for you the readers.

First thing I'd like to talk about is the 1 year anniversary of the site and the early success. It launched on valentine's day 2009 and as you know I posted a review this month of the Sony TX7 early after its release and it has caused a spike in traffic numbers. Easily double from what's normal and as I expected because the review is so time related the traffic is going down a bit. But it's still a considerable amount above the numbers before the article.
So far the ALEXA rating has gone down from 3.000.000 in may 2009 to 1.006.523 as of today. That's a hefty improvement! Even more impressive are the numbers of country related traffic. We're in the lower 300k bracket in the UK and Germany and in the low 600k numbers for the US visitors. That's quite impressive for 1 year of progress I think.
This month we're set for ending the month with over 22.000 unique visitors and almost 30.000 visitors in general! Hits are over 1.500.000 and over 200.000 pages have been viewed as of today. Trend numbers are rising by the day. I'm really happy for the website's early success and I hope that you keep visiting us in the remainder of february and after.

Now lets listen to some really good music. I want to introduce a Dutch artist called Caro Emerald. Her song A night like This is one of the first hits from my country this year and I hope you enjoy this song as much as I have and this night or day as well.

Readers of this I'd like to make a request. It would be great if you can contribute to some information gathering for possible future projects of mine. I need some high school experience. What do you think about your high school past, which subjects did you like and how about love, sports or grades. I'd like to know everything you're willing to share about your high school experience. Please go here if you want to help:

You can do it anonymously by keeping the email address and name bar open when you send the information in. As I said it can be very useful for future projects.

Okay I guess that's everything for today. Thanks for your support so far visitors, I hope I can count on you in the near future as well. Thanks!

Now everyone by now knows I love new technology and I felt like a kid in a candy store when all the news from CES landed on my doormat. For those who don't know CES is the consumer electronic show, a place where all the brands announce their new products for the year. I'd like to talk about some of the things we've seen.

3d television
Previously announced somewhere in the 80s with the goofy red-green classes, now it's back. Completely developed and perfected in 30 years and … still with glasses. Okay but now the screen doesn't go crazy with the glasses on right? Well not quite.
Sony, Samsung, LG and Panasonic showed their technology using (clear) shutter classes). From what I've heard the screen generally looks slightly darker than usual, the 3d elements sometimes show jaggies or stutter and the glasses are generally now comfortable. So who was most convincing? Well generally people review Sony's 3d experience as best of class. Apparently their classes were most comfortable and the screen quality closest to 2d but than in 3d. I can't wait for me to get my hands one of these new 3d sets, which will ship (most) from march and beyond.

Now let's take a short musical break. Here's Alan Parson's project with old and wise.

I'm was definitely not old and wise as I looked at all the fantastic tech toys coming from CES. It's safe to say that I wanted to get a hands on with all the products but obviously I can't financially. In fact I'll be happy to afford even one high end tech toy before the start of next year's CES. Anyway let's go on with cameras.

Cameras
Stating with Samsung. They are relatively new to the camera market and announced their new flag ship model at CES. Replacing the previous flag ship product, which came out 1 month before, which replaced the flag ship model that came 1 month before that. So basically they release a new high end camera every month. At CES it was the turn for the Samsung CL80. Featuring a whopping 14 mega pixel lens (website advertises 12.2 and 14, really weird LINK) and a 7x optical zoom which is very good. The specs are completed with: wifi functionality, 27mm and a beautiful design. I'm definitely looking forward to some samples from Samsung, they should send us one!, but if I had to buy one I'd walk right past Samsung towards the Sony booth.

After a stunning Taylor Swift performance a middle aged man showed us a spotlighted stand featuring 12 new cyber shot camera's and a PSP, which was really weird. They then took some time to talk about their new high end models the HX5 and the TX7. Both feature 10.2 megapixels, exmor R lens (=better low light pictures), 1080p video recording, panorama shot, 10 burst shot and a new high contract shot mode. In the last one it takes one with flash and one without and then combines them to make the perfect shot. Both feature stunning design, especially the TX7, and the HX5 differentiates itself with a compass, gps and a 10x optical zoom. Which is twice the amount of the Samsung! That and the 1080p video (worlds first for compact), panorama, burst and design make these cameras real winners. Oh and one more thing, it now takes SD cards too!

Tablet
Following apple's announcement that it's going to announce a tablet in the future, many pc makers followed. Starting with Microsoft showing a handful of atom-spec tablets. Other computer companies even thoroughly showed them during the keynote. Dell among others. Personally I think they don't offer that one killer feature which will set it apart form the netbook market. Maybe Apple can do that later this month? And maybe send us one?

I think these 3 things were the trend this CES. The market for televisions is stronger than ever, as is the market for cameras and tablets are finally coming in thick and fast. It's an exciting new year for tech freaks like me and for Robin Chung website readers. Trust me 2010 is going to be a great year!
