Let’s face it; we’d all like better grades every now and again. Sometimes learning more is no longer an option as life is a never-ending balance game between work, relaxation and some more work. The rule of 8s, dividing the day into 8 hours work, 8 hours downtime and 8 hours sleep doesn’t always apply to students. Some weeks the balance is simply all out of whack, especially with a few big exams coming up. This article will explain how you can gain benefits, such as higher grades, by manipulating your teacher.
Strike a conversation
A lot of the actions are set to break the clear role spectrum of teacher vs student. What we want to do is degrade those roles into equals, simply two adults or business partners. A great way is by simply starting a conversation in class. The subject of the talk must not be school related. Possibly ask him about hobbies or social situation, hopefully something you’ve picked up on earlier. If you know he loves to paint, talk about that, it helps if you’re a painter as well.
Use keywords to start and end days
We like to use curtain words or sentences to immediately alter the mood a curtain way. Good morning means: hello, I’m ready for the day. Goodbye means: thanks; we’ll see meet again soon. Say morning, good morning or whatever, when you walk into class, likewise say the appropriate things at the end. You can’t estimate the power of a simple hello.
One-liners
It’s essential that you break from the crowd and are remembered. The best way of doing this is by saying genuinely interesting things. A powerful opinion is one that breaks from beliefs and systems. You’re golden if you can put down an existing system with proper reasoning. Or bluntly give your unsalted opinion without looking back. One-liners are vital.
Act different
We all know how the average student acts and behaves. Talking about major parties, smoking, going through homework assignments etc. You will want to act like an adult to break the role student. Put simple: act mature at all times. If you’re late, don’t say you overslept or have just spent 30 minutes fixing a haircut, instead say: it was busy on the road. Also keep this image up. One lapse and you’ll be seen as a butt kisser. Nobody likes butt kissers, besides it’s a cheap trick everyone uses.
Differentiate results
Great work isn’t flawless but it will always be remembered as being different and pleasant. Differentiate your work by making documents and products equal across the board. Adopt a clear distinctive template for your documents. I like to add my logo to documents and begin the front cover with an inspirational quote. That way your teacher can always recognize your work without even seeing the name.
Ask for feedback, have the final say
It’s crucial that you stay in contact with your teacher throughout the process. Ask for feedback, preferably via mail, for every document you make. Also thank him or her for the great lessons/feedback afterwards. Don’t respond to every email though, or it may be perceived as an inferior act.
Important! Avoid being a butt kisser
By going over the edge you risk becoming exposed as a butt-kissing student. That means you failed because you haven’t broken down the role of student and, in addition, just received a demotion. You’ll now not be given the benefit of the doubt, resulting is worse grades! Pointers to stop this from happening:
- Don’t be positive towards everything your teacher does
- Never beg, will make him feel superior
- Don’t ask the same thing twice
- Don’t call other students by their mistakes; you can however explain that you don’t understand your age siblings.
Benefits
If you do this properly, your connection with the head of class will improve. In return granting you various benefits like improved grades. That’s not all however. You can count on the following bonuses, depending on class and level of education.
- Benefit of the doubt
- Higher grades
- More tolerant to coming to class late
- Assignments shadowing (not having to do it or portions, seldom works)
- Blind spot (missing mistakes you’ve made)
- Mentioning your name or product as an example
- Ability to skip classes
- More time for feedback and advice
Good luck in your quest for a better time in high school or college. We’re all just people, equals in every way. That’s what you need to recover in the classroom.
