A lot of people are tied down to public transport. Busses, trains, boats and other methods of transportation are used every day by millions of people. A lot of them are happy or at least satisfied with using busses everyday, but there’re some problems. This article will highlight problems in public transportation worldwide, most coming from first hand experiences.
The first problem can be found in the word “public”. Yes, it means there’re going to be other people there. And should you want this? Well I think not. Don’t get me wrong it can be fun with other people around. See one of the many Hollywood movies released this year. The person next to you could be the love of your life, or a wise man that triggers a sudden life changing realization. Or for the horror fans out there, a killer of someone or something. But most of the time the people next to you are going to annoy you in someway. Perfect examples of this are mothers with babies, rappers who listen to music through the phone speaker or old people. The latter will look disapprovingly when you try to make yourself more comfortable by using two seats. Anyway, other people can be a problem.
Another issue travelers will stumble upon is the timing. You must adhere the schedule of the transport. Be 1 minute late and be prepared to wait another hour before the next train arrives. Also, you can’t really win with this. You get a penalty when you’re late, in the form of having to wait ages for the next bus or train. However if the transport itself is late then you also get a penalty, because you’ll end up waiting anyway. It’s also very funny when party guests suddenly check their watches and are like: “We should go immediately, or else we’ll have to wait another 30 minutes.” Yes, you can’t leave when you want to, and that’s a problem.
The last is hygiene. So you’re finally seated and want to enjoy your surroundings? Think again. Often the seat is simply too dirty to sit on, with empty cans, bags or half-eaten-sandwiches lying around. Not fun. And there’s really no exception to the rule, except for maybe first-class airplane seats. The bus is the worst, with guests rudely leaving their garbage around upon leaving. But trains, boats and even taxi’s are also prone to the situation. You see, business owners want to operate effectively by transporting as many people around as possible in a very short time. This leaves no time for thorough cleaning and therefore exposes you to the mess of others.
I hope this article has taught you a valuable lesson. Don’t use public transportation. It’s not great. Well except for planes because they can actually bring you to places you can’t reach on your own. Drive safe travelers.
