So it’s summer now. The sun is out everybody is happy. But you might be a little bored as well. A lot of people I talked to are bored now that their holiday has started. There isn’t that constant pressure of things to do anymore. You can pretty much sit all day and get away with it. Today I’m going to look at the pros and cons of having a lot of summer activities. Should you plan your summer like you do a random work week or take it slow?
First let’s take a look at the pros of taking it slow rather than doing random things like a complete maniac. Of course you get the well deserved rest. It is important and ensures that you can give 100% to the activities you might start in the near and far future. It is also what your boss wants you to do as you will come back far more productive than you were before your holiday. And that’s not all. Because doing nothing this summer gives you the appreciation of having a job and having activities you want to do. You won’t take spare time for granted and will be much faster in doing things. To conclude taking it slow during the holiday ensures that you are more productive afterwards and it helps psychologically in many ways.
Doing activities this summer has its benefits as well. For one you won’t get bored to death. This is great because being bored is much like being sick. It makes everything feel like it is taking forever. Another benefit is that you stay in shape. Taking things slow at first actually makes you slower and lazy. Easy things to do will feel like a big pain. Small things like standing up to get a soda will not be appreciated in any way. If you like exercising then you might lose interest in that as well. So in short doing activities will help you to avoid any boredom and make you fitter.
If you look at both pros then every man would choose the second option. The immediate benefits are impressively in favor of method 2. And while you must not always go for the immediate pleasure in this case it is actually the better choice I think. Because while taking things slow might help you a little in the long run, it is not worth the price you pay for it. So there you have it. We have established that the best way to spend the summer is by planning a lot of activities.
Wait there´s one more thing. The middle man, the one that doesn´t get bored by doing nothing is actually the winner. See he isn´tbored and therefore doesn´t get lazy. But in the long run he gets the same benefits as the active man. So for the real conclusion, do nothing this summer just don´t get bored!
