Top 5 Most Successful Disney Movies

Disney (Pixar) obtained a dominant spot in the movie business. Children and adults all over the world are praising Disney films. From modern ones like Ratatouille to older Disney classics like the beauty and the beast. Here is a top 5 of most successful Disney movies to date.

5. High School Musical

(IMDB rating: 5.1 )
Teens in particular are all praising this movie. With its catchy tunes and likeable characters it conquered a top spot in the Disney hit list. Merchandise is still sold with the latest being a video game on the Playstation game console. While the actors aren’t the best they’re all teen stars now, enjoying huge popularity from fans all over the globe.

4. Wall-E

(IMDB rating: 8.6 )
WALLEEEEE. Was what everyone said leaving the theaters after seeing Wall-E. It has gotten incredible critics reviews and was one of the first to feature Blu Ray live content from Disney at its release. Games are made featuring Wall-E in his attempt to win over the heart of EVA, a white Apple like robot. This movie enjoyed more enthusiasm from the older crowd than our number 5 did and was even more successful for disney even earning them an Oscar.

3. Pirates of the Caribbean

(IMDB rating: 8.0 )
A movie that single handedly put pirates back in the cool zone. Jack sparrow (Johnny Depp) is a cold hearted pirate searching for treasures around the world regularly putting him in life threatening situations. It got three sequels and buzzing reviews, to the liking of Disney. It starting merchandising in 2003 and ended some time after the last sequel in 2007. It was a huge success for Disney and will not soon be forgotten.

2. Finding Nemo

(IMDB rating: 8.2) (Personal favorite)
A movie about a father tries to find his clownfish son Nemo in the wild oceans around Australia. It set a new bar of animation and was liked by both older and young audience. Personally it’s my favorite as for some reason I can’t get bored watching it. Finding Nemo was also the start of a series of highly successful Disney movie animations including a similar fish animation Shark tale which was less well received. A movie that can start a run of incredible animations and is still favorite under many has to be high on this Disney list. But it just falls short for the number one spot.

1. Lion King

(IMDB Rating: 8.2 )
I was raised with it and a lot of people were. But not only that it also enjoys buzz under older audiences and is favorite for countless people. It’s a movie with many layers, a great soundtrack and an iron strong story. With this movie you just feel that it completes your circle of life.

All these movies are really successful and while I can’t precisely predict each Disney’s movies gross income, I can use the few numbers available and a bit of logics to get to this top 5. So don’t pinpoint me on this as I can’t know. Only Disney knows. But what I do know is that Disney deserves the credit it’s getting. and hopefully they will keep making incredible movies like they have done so far. I encourage you to watch the trailers of these movies one more time to get you back to the time and place when you first got to see these classics.

for pure disney only and not disney pixar which is what some of these are (i think some are pure pixar even) lion king is the most successful. it is the only non pricess film to make it to the gold collection (disneys highest honors), and untill the year 2000 was the highest earning film IN THE WORLD! btw fun fact most people did not know. lion king was secretly the story of hamlet with music and animals. do not believe me? rewatch it carefully and tell me scar and the evil uncle lusting for power and killing hamlet/simbas dad and blaming the hero is not a perfect 1 to 1 story match

William, the “evil, power-hungry uncle” is a stock character found in virtually every fantasy/adventure/mythological story. It doesn’t mean that The Lion King is about Hamlet, it just means that the both the creators of The Lion Kind and Shakespeare decided to add an evil uncle in their works. That isn’t nearly enough evidance to validate your point. That’s like saying “Guys, Harry Potter is totally an allegory for World War II ! They both have one group of people targeting targeting another (supposedly “inferior”) group of people! Surprising, right? But totally true!”

some more info to back up lion king as the number 1 taken directly from wiki. yes i know not 100 accurate source of info

The film was the highest grossing animated film of all time until the release of Finding Nemo (a Disney/Pixar computer-animated film). The Lion King still holds the record as the highest grossing traditionally animated film in history and belongs to an era known as the Disney Renaissance.

The Lion King is the highest grossing 2D animated film of all time in the United States, and received positive reviews from critics, who praised the film for its music and story. During its release in 1994, the film grossed more than $783 million worldwide, becoming the most successful film released that year, and it is currently the thirtieth highest-grossing feature film.
